about It is Health team

Across the It is Health team, we have had our health challenges shape our lives. We’ve made lifestyle changes and reclaimed our health after decades of medications, surgeries, and failed diets, often achieving seemingly magical results once we found the right information and process. Health is dedicated to accelerating others up that learning curve, connecting each person with the right approach and resources for where they are in their health journey, thereby avoiding pain, suffering, and extraordinary expense.

We recognize each person is unique and occasionally may have genetic or other differences relevant to their return to metabolic health. Our process is aimed at the large majority of people whose metabolic health has deteriorated. It continues to worsen gradually over time and can be reversed by relatively simple (albeit not necessarily easy) diet and lifestyle changes, which may be gradual or dramatic as best fits for that individual.

It is Health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver.”

factors

An astounding 93% of American adults have at least one characteristic of metabolic syndrome, characterized by

Abdominal obesity (large waist circumference)

High blood pressure

High triglycerides

Low HDL ("good") cholesterol High

blood sugar levels

factors

Having any three or more of these factors is considered diagnostic for metabolic syndrome, which is a precursor to the development of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease, but any one of them is indicative of insulin resistance (IR), which typically develops 10-15 YEARS before a diagnosis of pre-diabetes or diabetes, both of which are diagnosed based on increasing blood sugar measurements.

During the intervening years, while your pancreas compensates by producing more and more insulin, thereby keeping blood sugar levels in the “healthy” range, most doctors do not do the appropriate tests or ask the right questions to identify your disease path. Eventually, as IR progresses, blood sugar levels start to rise, eventually reaching the diabetic range.

factors

The good news is that if you’re already a type 2 diabetic, you very likely can reverse your disease, but it will require somewhat Draconian lifestyle changes the most important piece of which being a very low carbohydrate diet.

The better news is, that if you’re relatively early in your IR progression, you can make relatively minor lifestyle adjustments and forever avoid metabolic disease progression.

So, where are you on your “disease journey”?

It is Health will help you find out, and based on your metabolic status and other factors, provide you with the information and connect you with the resources needed to help you on your journey back to perfect metabolic health.
